Leaves

This week's challenge is capturing shadows in nature. To me, this really has been a challenge. I usually spend my time trying to avoid shadows so it's a little counter intuitive for me... I'm still working on completing the challenge but I had a really cool experience with leaves. We're almost always looking down at them and I had this idea to try and capture a shadow from the underside. I sat under this shrub for like 20 minutes just waiting for shadows to be cast just right or trying to capture the sun rupturing through. It was probably one of my favorite moments with my camera. These next three photos are Buddy's favorite. He was just blown away by them, keep in mind that he is abstract.

And check out this crazy cool leaf!

When Buddy was looking at it on the camera, he wondered if there were critters on there so he zoomed in. Lo and behold there WERE!!!  Look at how many happy little bugs are eating away! I love that my camera picked up that crazy detail.

And THIS picture. This was the picture I sat under the shrub for 20 minutes to try to capture. After I took it, I knew I got what I wanted so I packed up and went back inside. When I pulled it up to edit it, my eye was confused. Do I look at the sun or the leaf to the left? I just couldn't decide. So that was a bummer because the sun is doing exactly what I wanted it to. I love the sun rays. A lesson on composition. I need to think about it more and plan ahead better.
