How did I get into photography?
Well, that's a great question. I have no idea.... JUST KIDDING. I remember being a little girl and being obsessed with disposable cameras. Unfortunately, my mom wasn't too fond of buying them so I got my first digital camera. The thing was amazing. It cost $100 and had 3.5 megapixels!!! That was such a steal. And the LCD screen was just as amazing. It was like an inch big. I hauled that little sucker everywhere with me and took all kinds of pictures. A few years later, that amazing camera was so outdated that it was hilarious. I upgraded to another digital camera with 7.5 megapixels! And this one had optical zoom too so it was better. Then that was replaced for several years with the iPhone. I'm still so impressed with the quality of those phones... Then 3 years ago I really got into food photography and wanted better photos for my blog In a Faraway Kitchen so I bought my first big girl camera. Wow. Like WOW. A whole new world was opened to me and I just couldn't put the thing down and I still can't! I'm constantly pushing myself to go beyond my bounds of creativity and knowledge and I'm continually expanding. I have spent hundreds of hours learning and experimenting with new things and to see the world in new ways. What do I do besides photography?
I'm so glad you asked! I do LOTS of things. I'm a runner and have done a couple half marathons and a full marathon. I'm a mother of two crazy boys. I love to snow board and play soccer. Ya. I LOVE to play soccer. If you need a member on your team, I'm your girl. And I'm good, not to brag.... just being honest. I also love to weight lift and I'm proud to say that I can do 6 pull ups right now!I am a musician. I play the piano, violin, and sing. All through high school I was in the Davis Youth Symphony and at one point was invited to do a side by side with the Utah Symphony. Unfortunately at the time I was working at Big O Tires, yes I work on cars a little bit, and broke a finger so I couldn't play. I wanted to become a music teacher but that wasn't quite the right thing for me so I went into psychology instead and that's where I found another great passion of mine. I absolutely love studying the brain and would love to go into neuropsychology but have found that I crave human interaction too much so I'll be furthering my education in counseling psychology. I love nurturing people and helping them find their inner worth and beauty, which is also a big part of why I love photography! Everyone is beautiful and if I can capture those moments for someone, then I have done my job well.
