Photo Challenge 2014: Week 38 Still Life Black and White
A still life photograph isn't one where you just take a photograph of something. You create a photograph, by forethought and careful consideration. It usually requires careful placement of objects. This was going to be hard for me cause quite frankly, I'm not that creative! And I wanted to come up with something unique. Luckily, Revin helped me on this one. I had just finished doing a photo shoot for my food blog and was bringing the food in to put on the table. When I saw what Revin had created, I knew that was my shot. So I placed my food and started shooting.

Portland Trip
Last weekend I went to Portland and wanted to share a few gems from my trip. Can you find the ant?
We went to the Tillamook cheese factory which was interesting and touristy. I wanted a cool shot that the average tourist wouldn't get. So there I was, squatting down and moving quickly around this deep chest of cheese and the people around me were like "what the....???? She's crazy!" But look at this awesome picture of cheese!!!! I love it! I call it: The Giraffe Cheese.
It's kinda hard to take a self portrait when you're always behind the camera, but I managed to. This is probably my favorite picture because of so many reasons. I love the creative composition and the ice cream and I loved the process of getting this shot. It's this shot that shows how well I'm getting to know my camera. Not one thing was in auto. I had full control over everything including focus.
We went to a little diner in the middle of no where on our way to the Oregon coast and I want to tell a short story with my photos.
Sigh.... I fell so in love with that old man while sneaking photos of him. He was so sweet and I loved that he was just having breakfast at the local diner. I also thought a lot about the joyous life he has lived and about my own journey I'll go on growing old. I wonder where his sweet heart is, if he ever had one. There was a cool boat steering wheel and my friends laughed at me for taking a picture of it. But look how cool it is!
And I spent some time with my awesome sister in her awesome Tonka Truck that clearly needs windshield wash. This photo was fun. I had taken over two dozen of my friend like this one and I thought those were cool until I caught this gem of my sister. I just can't get over the sun. The lighting is just soooo cool.

Photo Challenge 2014: Week 37 Lines and Patterns
I've started coaching a girls soccer team twice a week, I have 3 piano students, 1 teething toddler, and I'm training for a marathon. You COULD say I'm busy... So this is as close to completing the challenge I could get this week. This is a flower I passed while walking to soccer practice. Yes. WALKING. My husband needed the car so I pushed 55 lbs. of toddlers straight up a ridiculous hill for 2 miles. Today I can barely walk. ANYWAYS! I fell in love with this flower. Snapped a picture with my iPhone, and continued on my way. I edited it in Snapseed.
Photo Challenge 2014: Week 36 Horizons
I was kinda bummed because I had been saving my horizon picture specifically for when I went to the Portland beach. I had hoped to be there for sunset or for there to be some cool clouds or something but it was absolutely clear out there and it was not an option to stay for sunset. So here is the best I could do!

Photo Challenge 2014: Week 35 Textures and Patterns in Nature
This was harder than I thought. Not because there is a lack of textures and patterns, but because it's hard to find something unique and different. There's a lot of cool moss and bark around me but I couldn't figure out a way to tell a creative story with it. So one of the days I was out walking with the boys after a rainfall and saw this amazing leaf. I love water drops! The way they bubble is amazing and I loved the symmetry of the leaf. And I love the story of this leaf. It's covered in diamonds.
